We have been in KC a year.
It just seems like yesterday that we only knew our way to wal-mart and the prayer room.
What has happened this past year?
Well, other than finding out where EVERYTHING else is. :)
We have learned how to move to a new town, and make friends. You may think this is silly, but when you have cultural differences, you need the grace of God over everyone you speak to.
Example: not everyone you walk past says "hey" or "excuse me" or gives you "the nod" for the first few months we were here we thought everyone was rude! When honestly they are just from somewhere else. In the South, we speak to strangers without thinking, we wave to everyone and say "God bless you". Here you have every culture! We always seek out to find other southerners to get "our fix" and eat good food. "Northerners" aren't bad though! In fact some of our closest friends have come from everywhere but the south! (and we wouldn't have it any other way!)
We have grown in the LORD as individuals, a couple, and a family. We love our spiritual family here. We serve as much as we can, and we learn as much as we can. We know we won't be here forever and want to soak up as much as we can.
We know fully the LORD has brought us here, He has made a way for us to be here this long, He has been The Provider. We do miss our family and friends, but our intentions are not to move back there, it is to spread the Gospel, rescue orphans, and heal the hurting. We can not do any of that outside of God's Will.
We have learned to be able to sit in the Lord's presence. (well, we kinda knew this before, and are constantly working on it, but...) We are "busy people", but we are able to sit in the prayer room (or our home, but out home has distractions named Anna & Justice!) and just sit, and listen to the Lord, and sing to Him. Just sit, and know that He is God, and He deserves every single praise rising up from this city and cities around the world.
We are also interceding, warring for social injustices across the globe, and at home. The one that is closest to my heart right now is babies. This is not the only thing. We have been challenged to see souls as eternal, whether it be the child in the womb or the special needs child needing a home. They have eternal souls. We want to open our doors to those who need a home. We are learning how to open our home, we are praying for all the needs associated with this desire to be met.
I could write more, but one of my precious ones woke up from their nap a little early.=]
